It’s important to use the Universal design for learning because it helps to build in a very flexible manner. Having the ability to cast a message to all of your students is what it takes in order to make a difference for all. For students to have multiple ways to access information is key in the universal design for learning concepts.

The three main principles of the universal design for learning or engagement representation and action expression. Engagement can be about how you find ways of different educational paths and how you use different methods to engage and motivate your students. You can do this by giving selections for the students to choose on what they want to learn. Representation can be handled by giving information in different formats. You could use audio you can use video you could use apps or even allow the students hands-on options. Action expressions is what you do with the students to showcase their knowledge. This could be research projects, projects to present in class and anything else that can be fun and engaging to showcase what they’ve learned.
